Dear Baby Twins at 18 weeks

I had this idea to write letters to our sweet little babes. I want to remember everything about this beautiful journey and then to be able to share it with them some day. I have been writing letters periodically since the beginning, some are more eventful and some more personal and sentimental. I thought I’d share one once and a while so below is my 18 week letter…

Dear Baby Twins,

We are just smitten about you.  Your dad and I just look at each other some nights and can’t believe that we’ve been blessed with this beautiful gift. It’s something we both never imagined in a million years. A few weeks ago, we both felt you kicking for the first time. We kept our hands on my belly while we watched a movie and sure enough after a lot of patient waiting, we felt some movement. It was so surreal, so special. It brought tears to my eyes. A few weeks went by where I didn’t feel too much, just the odd tiniest kick. Then this past Sunday, on mothers day, I began to feel you little munchkins A LOT and it hasn’t stopped since! Sometimes it feels like you’re doing summersaults in my belly or perhaps having a little dance party for two?

We had our third midwife appointment on Tuesday and we were able to hear both your heart beats loud and strong.  I am 18 weeks along and measuring at 23! They said that was normal for a twin pregnancy.  I haven’t had many cravings for specific foods as of yet. I am just hungry ALL the time. A bowl of cheerios is my favorite snack as of late. I went through a full box myself  (with your help of course) in a week! (oops!) Some nights I find it a little uncomfortable to sleep, but that’s ok. It just means you’re both growing! I think it may be time to invest in a pregnancy pillow though..

We love you little babies, all the way to the moon and back. We pray for you all the time. Keep dancing and take care of each other in there…

The photos below were taken by Ron. Next week we find out the genders of our sweet little peas! (yes! we’ve decided to!) Any guesses?????

Britt | London Ontario Maternity

Last year around this very time, Britt and I had supper together at Tony Roma’s. We shared both our excitement and our fears about having children some day. It was something we both longed for and it was so wonderful to be able to share my heart with someone else who felt the same things I did and was at the same place in life. We talked about how much fun it would be to be pregnant together some day but we both thought it would be a few years down the road. It seemed like some far off thought. Something in the distance.

Well, the Lord had other plans I guess because today, Britt is over 6 months pregnant and I am over 4. It still seems so surreal that we are both going to have children in our arms by the end of the year. But it’s the best thing in the world to experience this beautiful time in my life with a best friend. She get’s me. She answers my absurd pregnancy questions when I text her at 7 am in the morning. She let’s me drag her out to the cherry blossoms because I knew they won’t be around for much longer and I was dying to shoot them. Love your baby bump Britt Havens and I can’t wait to snuggle that little monkey when it arrives. If you aren’t already, you can follow along on Britt’s amazing pregnancy journey here!

Lovely colours, lighting and poses. Beautiful.

The Goals

It’s hard to believe that it’s already MAY!  Where does the time go?! It’s been just about a month since we found out that we were having TWINS and it’s finally just starting to sink in. We have so much to do before our little munchkins arrive and a full summer of weddings to shoot which means there is no time to fool around when it comes to crossing things off our to-do list. Last month we tackled A LOT but there is still so much to do! At the end of the month, we’re leaving for B.C. again to see my little brother get married. WHAT? We’re thinking this will probably be our last plane trip away together before the babes so we hope to make the most of it!

Vanessa + Massimo

Vanessa and Massimo had known of each other for quite some time but didn’t actually get acquainted until the summer of 2004. Massimo’s friend Phil and Vanessa’s friend Connie were going on a first date and to avoid any awkward silence, they decided to each bring along a friend which ended up being Vanessa and Massimo. As fate would have it, Phil and Connie’s relationship didn’t much longer after that initial first date but Vanessa and Massimo kept talking. Massimo moved away from London to work in Waterloo and they lost contact for a while…a few months later he received a phone call from Vanessa and they met up again for a date. Since that date, they never stopped talking again. They officially started dating in June 2005 and in October of 2012, after 7 years of dating, Massimo planned a weekend getaway to Stratford (the home of their favorite pizza place). Just before dinner, they went for a walk around the lake and were chatting as they went. Halfway through their walk, Massimo got down on one knee and pulled out a ring from his jacket that was tied to a lovely rose. Vanessa said yes and they are tying the knot in August of this summer! We feel to honoured to have met these two and to be able to share in their special celebration! Enjoy some of our faves from their urban engagement session in downtown London.
